Corsair TwinX 1024-3200C2 low bandwidth?

Recommended Posts

i just recently replaced my corsair 512mb valueram with a Twinx1024-3200c2 set and ran the latest memtest86+, no errors, but what concerns me is the memory throughput is reading 1195mb/s in dual channel mode. I tested each stick individually and it runs around 980mb/s. Shouldn't it be running closer to 5000 or at least 3200?

MB: Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Bios Rev. 1009

P: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton

RAM: Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2

PS: Coolmax CT-450

I set the BIOS to recommended settings

Memory frequency: 200MHz

Voltage: 2.7 Volts

CL: 2.5T

RAS to CAS Delay: 3

RAS Precharge: 3

Active to Precharge Delay: 6

[i couldnt find the 'sdram bank interleave' setting]

oh, and my comp has been 'sticking' a lot ever since i installed the RAM. It doesn't totally hang, but has like 5-10 sec pauses every so often when I'm opening folders; didn't do that before.

this mobo and ram has been discussed so much but i haven't seen anything about throughput.

You will want to use an application that runs a memory benchmark in Windows in 32 Bit mode. Like Everest Home or Si-Soft but 1000-1200 MPS is about right for that MB and these modules with the CPU you have in memtest.

And you have to run the memory frequency in sync with the CPU or you will get low memory performance.
