Asus A8N32 SLI + 2 x (TwinX 1 GB XMS3200C2) + OC = crashing

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to OC my Athlon 64 3500+ I just got with the 2 sets of TwinX 1GB 3200C2 that I have (so 4 x 512MB), and I'm having problems getting the computer stable. I think the memory is at fault, it's only rated for DDR400. Without buying new memory, what are my options?

I've tried running them at 2-3-3-6, 3-3-3-8 timings @ 200 mHz or close to it, on 2.7, 2.75, 2.8 V, and it POSTs- but when I get into Windows it gets corrupted and freezes. Is is not possible to run this memory @ these timings with 4 modules? What timings should I use, and how much voltage?

EDIT: Just checked the RAM timings in CPU-Z, here's what it gives me:

Frequency: 157.9

CAS Latency: 2.5

Ras to Cas Delay: 3

Ras Precharge: 3

Cycle time: 7

Bank Cycle Time: 10

Command Rate: 2T

DRAM Idle Timer: 16 clocks

Is this just from trying to use 4x512 sticks? Or is my RAM just crappy? :)

Thanks again.

Just checked the Memory revisions on the RAM, and one set is XMS3202v1.5 0527030-3 (IC = Winbond-5), the other set is XMS3202v5.2 0602113-0, which is unlisted on the IC thread. I'm guessing this could be a problem, and is these any way to fix it?
