New DDR2-5400 on abit AW8

Hi there,

I've just purchased the following;

Abit AW8

Intel P4D 805

2 x 1Gb Corsair XMS2-5400

nVidea 7600GS

The motherboard won't POST at the moment (so I can't even get into config to over/underclock), giving error 6F (floppy related). Having Googled it, it sounds like memory incompatibility is a possible cause.

Could you confirm that this setup is compatible? If not, what would you recommend?

Please try and reset the bios one module at a time and see if its just one failing module, but if you get the same results with both modules I would suspect some other problem, and testing them in another system would be suggested.

I've tried that, actually going with each module in each of the four slots.

same problem each time.

The most interesting (and porbably relevant) link is http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?t=108397 where it is suggested that the motherboard and cpu only work with 553 RAM, however I can't find any documentation for this, and don't know whether to trust it.

Thanks for helping.

PS. don't have another system or other RAM to try (wanted to get ahead of my mates)
