bird2132
I purchased my system from Alienware in 12-03. Since that time I have had frequent crashes when I play games. It happens when I play World of warcraft and Battlefield. I purchased 2 512 sticks of ram matching excatctly what the system came with with no difference. I now have a total of 2g of ram.The memory installed is Corsair XMS 2-2-2-5 DDR 512 PC3200 XMSX. I wonder if it's a latency timing issue. If so how do I change those settings with out harming my system. It's an AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 Processor. Thank you.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 27, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 27, 2006 Can you tell me our modules part# of all of your modules (How To Read the Memory Label) and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 27, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 27, 2006 I would set the memory voltage to 2.8 Volts and with 4 modules you should relax the timings so I would try these settings and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. Voltage conrtol CPU core 1.500v AGP VDDQ 1.55v DDR SDRAM 2.80v NB 1.55v SB 2.50v Hypertransport 1.20v CPU operating speed external clock 200/66/33 MHz set this manually Multiplier X13.0 AGP Ratio CPU:AGP:PCI 6:2:1 Current FSB Frequency 200MHz DRAM Freq 200MHz DRAM Clock DDR 400 Command rate 2T CAS Latency Time 2.5 RAS# to CAS # Delay 3 clocks Min RAS # active time 7 clocks RAS # precharge time 3 clocks row cycle time 11 clocks row fersh cycle time 14 clocks ras to ras delay 2 clocks write recovery time 3 clocks write to read delay 2 clocks read to write delay 3 clocks Then test the system and if its more stable you can tweak the timings to get best performance. bird2132
If i change those settings will i harm the computer in any way? And thanks for the quick responce.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 27, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 27, 2006 The minimum suggested voltage for these modules would be 2.75 Volts and this MB may not have that option so 2.8 Volts would be suggested, but as long as you dont go over 2.9 Volts if the modules ever fail we will replace them
