ComputerGuy21
Having an issue with 1 of the sticks. I cannot get the system to boot with this 1 stick by itself, or with the other stick with it. After I remove the supposed bad stick of ram, I have to chkdsk or I cannot boot the PC. I have tested other 2x 1gb ram and it works flawlessly

Mitch Wilson
One module of a pair XMS 2048-3200C2PT appears to have failed in an Asus A8N5X motherboard. Machine was running fine for about 9 months and one day reported corrupted system file. Attempted to repair by booting to XP Disk and using Repair Console. Repeatedly received STOP Error 0x0000008e. Microsoft reports that this generally relates to a RAM error so I pulled the RAM module farthest from the CPU. Machine booted normally. Replaced RAM module remaining in machine with the one pulled and machine would not boot. Replaced module again with previously succesful sister module and machine runs fine. To me this indicates that this particular module is bad.
