vielpattie
I purchased a dual set of xms2 512 Mb DDR2 ram a couple of months ago and I think I just found out that one of them is faulty. I'm wondering if you can help me out. When I installed them, I had origninally had a single module of old ram in a yellow slot, so I put each one from the new set in a black slot. The computer booted up fine. But when I take away the single module in the yellow slot, it would not boot up with only the two xms2 modules installed in either the yellows or blacks. I then tried isolating the xms2 modules by only installing one at a time. I found that only one of them, when installed solo, will yield a successful boot. Is this supposed to happen? Is only one of the two modules supposed to work on its own if installed solo?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 5, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 5, 2006 Please load setup/optimized defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
