Do I have to change my Voltage to 1.9 for My Corsair Ram to work?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just bought 2 GBs of Corsair TWIN2X2048-5400C4 Ram and it says the ram is rated for voltage 1.9

I am wondering if I have to up the voltage on my motherboard to 1.9 or if I can just stick the ram in my computer and it will work.

If I do have to change the voltage, does anyone know how?

Also, It has latency timings of 4-4-4-12 , do I have to change those somewhere for this ram to work as well?

I would really appreciate anyone who can help me with this or link me to a place that can.

Thanks alot.

*Note, I am using an Asus P5GD2 Deluxe Motherboard.

RAM GUY - Thanks for your quick response.

My next question would have to be. When do I change the voltage?

Should I plug the memory in and than boot up and go directly into the BIOS and change the voltage to 1.9 or should I change the voltage before I put in my new RAM?

Thanks again!

And also, Does my BIOS automatically detect the RAMS latency timings and adjust itself accordingly?

Okay, is there some kind of guide on the internet that shows you how to set the latency timings in your bios?

Cause I think I see something in the BIOS that lets you change the ram CAS latency or something but i'm not sure cause there are 4 or 5 different options like

CAS# and a few others.

Please use these as a reference, but please note that we are using an over clocked configuration to test the modules.

What are the correct timings for My Module?

Testing parameters for Twinx/XMS2-5400C4:

Motherboard make and model: ABIT AA8 Durramax and/or Asus P5AD2 Premium

Each pair is tested and packaged together using the following settings:

CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 250MHz

DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 533MHz

DRAM Timing Selectable: Auto Yields the following timings

SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T

DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 1.9

NB Voltage 1.9 Volts (On Abit AA8 Only)

All other settings are motherboard defaults.

Maximum DDR2 recommended VDIMM: 2.1 Volts
