Bad RAM

Recommended Posts

Running Corsair XMS 2GB (2x1GB) SDRAM DDR400 Twinx 2048-3200c2pt and yesterday woke up to a BSOD. After rebooting, system wouldn't load, giving me an error of WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM is missing or corrupt. I immediatly jumped on my other box and began scanning the net for more info on this, NONE of which would lead to believe RAM as the problem. After about 5 hrs, a HDD swap, a DVD drive swap, and no results, I figured I'd swap the ram out w/ the PC2700 sticks in my other machine. Poof, booted right up.

Needless to say I'm in the process of RMAing this ram, but was wondering, since it came in a DualPack type deal for a dual channel config, can I RMA both sticks and get the same package? Thanks for any help. By the way, great ram, until now that is. :)

Please load setup/optimized defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
