holihan
I recently purchased a new system from mwave and one of the memory sticks is bad. The system would blue screen w/ page fault errors about every 5 minutes. So, I pulled first one and then the other stick from my system. With the one (bad), I continued to have the problem. With the other I've been stable for 2 days without any issues. 2 questions: Is this sufficient for a RMA? I purchased TWINX2048-3200C2PT from mwave and received 2 CMX1024-3200C2PT modules per the label on the memory. Is this correct? Thanks, Sean
Wired
Yes, a twinx pack is 2 CMX sticks. Try RMA'ing it via MWave first, as if they sold you a complete system, IMHO they should check it out first.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 22, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 22, 2006 Can you tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
holihan
I started using only default settings and had problems. Based on some of the posts I'd seen on the board w/ the RAM Guy suggestions I tweaked the memory voltage to 2.7 (I believe, I'm at work as I write this) but had no luck w/ that either. I have not tweaked any other setting for the memory or CPU. Thanks, Holihan
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 22, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 22, 2006 Please load setup/optimized defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. holihan
I set the timings on the bios and ran memtest on both memory sticks. The "good" one had no errors. The suspected "bad" one had a bunch of errors at test 5. I'm going to RMA them back to mwave unless you think there's reason to try something else. thanks for the help and advice.
