DDR2 value RAM single-bit error

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of 512MB modules: Corsair VS1GBKIT533D2 1GB Kit DDR2-533 PC2-4200 Value Select Memory, bough September 2005 from zipzoomfly.

Memory is installed in Dell Dimension 9100 and had been working fine until recently. Computer is not overclocked by any means (it's Dell :).

About 2-3 months ago I started to notice infrequent Linux kernel paging failures (once a week or two). Then noticed corrupted file once (single byte). Yesterday got corrupted file again, single byte.

I run memtest86 many times before, but not for long. Left it working for the whole last night, and, oh my god, single bit error on test 4, on 6th (!) pass of 15. No way. Happened only one time.

Failing address: 00028aa0314 650MB (first 512MB is Dell original RAM)

Good: 336302ee

Bad: 336342ee

I used to run ~100 self-assembled machines in the past, exchanged may be 10 bad RAM modules from XXXXXXXXX and Micron. But I have never never seen bad module passing memtest more than 2 times!

Picture is here:

What should I do next???
