Jexxx
I purchased my stick of ram on August 12, 2005 and its starting to fail now. I noticed about 2 weeks ago that my computer would start to freeze up whenever i would do something. If i was booting up my computer it would freeze 3-4 times before it would actually work. When i would play my games like world of warcraft or counter strike source it would freeze too and i would have to restart. So i started trying different things to see what was causing the problem. And i took out my 1 gb stick of ram (VS1gb400c3) and had only my 512 stick in and ever since then it has been running smooth with not one freeze at all. This has to be the problem. i have a gigabyte ga-k8ns mobo nvida 6800 le amd 2800+
Wired
More troubleshooting is needed. 1. What is the part # of your 512 module? 2. Try running just the 1 GB stick (by itself) in the slot the 512 MB stick is in. Correct timings for VS1gb400c3 are: CAS Latency (tCL): 3 RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4 Row Precharge (tRP): 4 Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8 Memory Voltage: 2.7x Volts (warrantied up to, but not over, 2.90 volts) All other settings to defaults. Jexxx
the part # for the 512 stick is VS512mb400. Its also a value select. I tried running the 1 gb by itself too and it keeps freezing.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 3, 2006 You should not mix memory, and if you change from one modules to another you should load setup defaults and then set the memory voltage to 2.7 Volts and then test the system with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. Wired
GO into the BIOS, hit CTRL+F11, that will let you access advanced options which contain voltage settings.
Jexxx
When i did ctrl+f11 in BIOS it didnt bring up the advanced options. Is there another way to change the voltage?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 5, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 5, 2006 It will not bring up anything it will show the hidden options in your Bios when you go to Frequency and Voltage Control you will see the option for memory voltage if its was not listed before. Please check with the MB maker for more help with their Bios.
