Bad XMS Modules

Recommended Posts

I bought two (2) Corsair XMS modules from Newegg (P/N CMX512-3200C2PT) for use in my Asus P4PE motherboard. They've been working OK for a couple of years, but recently I'm getting a lot of errors in Windows that say "The memory at address XXXX could not be read." I ran Memtest86+ and it reported nearly 1000 errors.

Based on the memtest results, are these bad?

Are these covered under warranty?

Please advise what you think I should do.

Are you running these at 2-3-3-6? what voltage? FSB? you can get these informations directly in BIOS, or by using cpuz. If they are indeed defective, yes they are covered by warranty but they need to make sure it's not on your end.

Memtest86+ reported FSB as 133Mhz.

I reduced the memory frequency to 266Mhz from 333Mhz.

Even with the 2-3-3-6 setting and the reduced memory frequency, Memtest86+ still found hundreds of errors.

What other settings can I try, or is the memory bad?
