guitarbloke
Hi there, Please excuse my ignorance, I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination :[pouts: I bought 1gb of Corsair ValueSelect ddr400 Cas2.5 (2x512) about a month ago, and this month I have just purchased another 1gb (the same spec) My question is this, will I have any issues with this? I have heard that you shouldn't mix memory, but I only heard this after I bought the second lot. The new sticks arrived today but I haven't installed it yet (still at work at the moment lol). I'm hoping that because they are the same spec the new sticks will be fine in conjunction with the old pair. Can anyone please confirm this one way or the other? Thanks in advance! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 28, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 28, 2006 As long as they are the exact same part# they should be the same and should work in that system, but you may have to run the system at DDR333 with 4 modules installed. Sean I've encountered the same problem too. Before, I'm using Kingston 512MB DDR400 PC3200 and recently I bought Corsair ValueSelect 512MB DDR400 PC3200 (Model VS512MB400). When tested with Everest 2006, the single Corsair and Kingston's RAM (installed one-by-one) recognised by Everest 2006 as PC3200.But when combined together, Everest 2006 indicated it as PC2700. It is normal? Why?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 3, 2006 You should not mix memory, more than likely the two modules SPD's are set differently and the bios is selecting the closest match, in this case DDR333.
