bomba
I'm planning to get some new memory. My processor is a overclocked Barton 2500+ running at 2.1 GHz on a ASUS A7N8X-X MB. At the moment I have two TwinMOS Original PC3200 256 Mb sticks of RAM, so I just have one memory slot vacant. Now, the question; is the Corsair Value Select PC3200 1024 Mb a good choice when upgrading?
Yellowbeard
Have a look here: http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/configurator_search.html Mike.
bomba
Yeah, I had a look there, but the memory is not included. However, VS2GBKIT400C3 is included and that is just two pieces of the memory stick I just asked about. Is it realistic that two memory sticks of a certain model is compatible with my mobo, but not one?
Yellowbeard
I'd wait for RAM GUY to clarify but, it seems that a single 1gb stick would do better on that MOBO than 2 x 512mb. I'm not sure if the "X" version of that MOBO offers the dual channel option but, on the non X versions, it's not very practical and seems to run better with a single stick of memory. So, a single 1gb stick makes the most sense. Mike .
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2006 I would not suggest mixing memory with this MB, but VS1GB400C3 will run great in the MB, just load setup defaults and then set the memory frequency at 100% and set the memory voltage to 2.7 Volts and set the timings to: For DDR333 Cas 2.5-3-3-7 For DDR400 Cas 3-3-3-
