pyroman1
Hello, Which of the following is better? Frequency: 208.2MHz CL: 2.5 TRCD: 3 TRPD: 3 TRAS: 8 OR Stock Frequency: 250MHz CL: 3 TRCD: 4 TRPD: 4 TRAS: 8 This system in question is running TWINX2048-4000PT. I am trying to optimize my OCing of the system. I currently have my AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ running at 2.5GHz with LDT*HTT at 1052. Thanks!
CandyKid
250MHz @ 3-4-4-8 is better. The increased frequency makes up for the loss in latency. Read this: Memory Speed v.s. Latency PLUR CK
Amaze
seems like if you're a gamer it would be wiser to have tight timings and lower fsb.
taeric
AMD systems do light tight timings, but I would put my money on the higher frequency giving better results in this case due to the larger difference (208 vs 250). When in doubt, run benchmarks on both settings and use whatever gives the better results. Preferably run benchies that closely match your intended usage. Also, if you like to game, enable the fps meter in your games or use a program such as Fraps to check your frame rates. A bit of trial and error goes a long way when it comes to overclocking.
