mageofthesands
I have recently had memory problems. I tested my two ValueSelect VS512MB400 sticks with memtest86+, and tested them individually. One passes with flying colors. The other fails 3072 times on a full pass. Parts came with my www.ibuypower.com computer, which I bought 2 years ago. The offending stick is of Lot 0421003-0. I do not see any obvious physical damage to the stick. I also failed Prime95 within 30 seconds with this stick.

mageofthesands
Actually, I may have spoke too soon. After some oddness with Civ IV, and Guild Wars, I ran Memtest86+ again. I failed it 30 times. I think every failure was on test 4.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2006 Please load setup/optimized defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. mageofthesands
Uh...what? I have no idea how to load any settings, nor what a dim voltage is. I just stick them into the ram slots. That's about as techie as I get. I'll go test each stick with Memtest86+

mageofthesands
Tech Support was busy. Curiouser and curiouser. I tried several different set ups with RAM positions. All came out okay. Perhaps it was the slot, or I caught a piece of dust in it or something. If any other problems arise, I'll come back. Thanks for all the help.
