frogsmasha
Thank you for taking the time to read my post: I am a bit lost on the path I should take to fix the problem I have. I have an ASUS A8V Deluxe board paired up with (2) sticks of CMX512-3200XLPRO, and I constantly get BSODs while running DDR400, but the machine is somewhat stable when set at DDR333. (I have my sticks populated only in the blue slots) So I ran memtest86 with DDR333, and show no signs of errors. So than I ran the test with the DDR400, and I get a few errors. Thinking this could possibly be a bad stick I decided to run memtest86 with just one stick, and ran the test for about 12 hours without any errors. I also did this with the other stick and even that one would recieve no errors (About 50 passes per stick). So now I am thinking maybe the motherboard is bad, but I have a feeling this isn't the case because my luck is always upside down, and backwards. So lets go against my gut feeling, and pray its a problem with the bios settings. I also updated the bios to curve my problem to no avail. Motherboard: A8V Deluxe - Rev 1.xx Processor: Athlon 64 3800+ NewCastle (1.55 Voltage) Memory: CMX512-3200XLPRO (2x512) Here are my settings on the 1014 A8V Deluxe bios: 2:1 DDR400 Burst Length: 8 beats CAS Latency: 2 TRCD: 2 TRAS: 5 TRP: 2 (everything else is auto) Read Premable Settings: 6.0 ns HT Frequency: 1000 Mhz HT Data Wide UPSTREAM: 16 bit HT Data Wide DOWNSTREAM: 16 bit CPU FSB Frequency: 200 Mhz DDR Voltage 2.8v AGP Voltage 1.6v V-link Voltage 2.6v I've tried doing everything I could possibly think of to remedy my problem, and I just cant find it. When I set my ram to DDR333 it's more stable, but not that much. Seems a little jittery. Are my settings correct? What should I do? Thank you for reading. Wired
Could be the memory controller on the CPU.
frogsmasha
Someone else on this board was having similar problems, and someone told him to change his RAS to CAS to 3 instead of 2, and I ran memtest86 last night in DDR400 with zero errors, and this was with 27 passes So would you recommend any other setting adjustments for optimal performace? I am not looking for OC, but rather a stable system. Thank you
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 10, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 10, 2006 What do you have the memory voltage set to? I would suggest 2.8 Volts and what slots do you have the modules in? Try them in the other two slots.
Yellowbeard
When I had that MOBO, I had stability problems at stock FSB. Raising it to 201mhz helped. Also, do you have the latest bios? Mike .
frogsmasha
Right now my voltage is set to 2.7, but I also had issues with 2.8 (not sure if that was because of voltage of something else). Now that I dont report errors with Ras to CAS 3 instead of 2 ill change my voltage and see if that helps. My bios has been updated to 1018 beta as of yesterday, and no real change. I'll also try setting my FSB to 201 to see if this might help. This is very bizarre
frogsmasha
Everything seems to be pretty stable. I've done some very intensive stuff utilizing a ton of resources, and so far its held up quite well. Thank you very much for your help. I wouldn't have done it without the help from this board. Thanks again! -Dave
