One bad stick from XMS PC3200 TwinX pack

Recommended Posts

Recently I have been having problems with my memory, lately it will not boot into windows, and constantly reboots. I removed one of the two sticks of memory from my motherboard, and booted into windows with no problems. I removed the good stick that was in there, and installed the other one. My computer will now not pass my BIOS' memory test, and will not go past there to even try memtest. Removing the bad stick, and installing the good one boots into windows perfectly fine.

Motherboard: Asus A7N8X Deluxe

Processor: Athlon XP 1600+

Graphics card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Memory: Corsair PC3200 TwinX (1024MB total) the bad stick: CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202 v5.2 0547097-0

CPU Frequency: 133 Multiplier: 10.5x

My Timings were as follows:

With the memory on Auto:

Active Precharge Delay: 6

RAM to CAS Delay: 2

CAS 2T

RAS Precharge delay: 2

With memory by SPD:

Active Precharge Delay: 8

RAM to CAS Delay: 3

CAS 3T

RAS Precharge delay: 3

Under both timings, the good stick works, but the bad stick is stuck at the memory failure in the BIOS. Please let me know if it is OK to RMA this stick. Thank you,

Kris
