Wired
What CPU / FSB / Motherboard do you have? What is the exact part # and revision # of each stick? Is it a TwinX pack? How To Read the Memory Label If you have more than one stick, have you tested one stick at a time in each slot using Memtest86+? jeffalltogether
Processor: P4 3.2GHz socket 478, 800MHz FSB, Motherboad: Elite Group 848-P Part number: VS1GB400C3 Revision number: 0603174-0-559418 I think its the TwinX pack, i dont really know, i sadly through out the box and now i cant return it back to frys. But it came with two 1GB sticks of ram so yeah. I havent tested it with that program, i dont really want to put the ram back into my computer becuase every computer that ram went it it messed up that computer. Wired
Value Select Packs aren't TwinX packs. Disconnect the power cable from the hard drive. No way it can mess anything up!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 5, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 5, 2006 And you should be using http://www.memtest.org to test the system, and I would install the modules and load setup defaults and then set the memory voltage to 2.7 Volts. But when ever you change hardware you should load setup defaults and or reset the bios so the new hardware is detected properly.
jeffalltogether
Alright, i will br trying out that program when i get home from workk. How would i know if the ram is truely bad?
Garvin
After following Ram Guy's advice, loading optimized defaults in the bios (or resetting the bios) and then setting the memory voltage (also called ddr voltage or vdimm in a bios) to 2.7volts in the bios, running the program Memtest86 from http://www.memtest.org will perform a series of eight tests on the ram, known as one pass of Memtest86. Run three passes, about 15 to 20 minutes a pass. If Memtest doesn't find any errors, the problems not likely due to the ram. If it does find errors in any of it's tests, the ram is likely faulty, i.e. bad. Good luck.
