Bob Weber
I have a Gigabyte GA-8i865PE board with TWINX 1024 3200LL (2 x 512 sticks) in banks 1 and 3. I would like to add 1024 more (to banks 2 and 4) but I can't find the LL speed anywhere. Will the C2 or the XL speed ones work? Everyone I've asked has the same answer "it's BEST to have all 4 banks filled with the exact same memory". No kidding! But will a slightly differant pair work....if I set the timings to the slowest of the two pairs?
CMC_SAVAGE
The LL's are not made anymore. I would'nt recommend mixing any other RAM with them. I suggest a TWINX-2048 set.
Bob Weber
Hey Savage, I took your advise and bought a pair of TwinX-2048 3200C2. I stuck it into the other slots before taking out my 1024 and guess what....all 3 Gigs runs great together! I even set the timing to 2-3-2-6 (faster than the advertized speed)....ran MemTest86+ all night long with no errors. Guess maybe I got lucky. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 16, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 16, 2006 Yes you did especially with that MB, but I would not be surprized to see that you are actually running at DDR333.
Bob Weber
I just checked and both FSB and RAM are running at 201 mhz. That's DDR400 right? My 3DMark03 score is almost exactly what it was with just the 1024 3200LL installed. So nothing has slowed down. I don't need 3 Gigs of Ram though so I'm giving the old gig to my brother to add to his TwinX-512 3200LL (same MB). I'll let you know how it works for him.
