parry
I had purchased a Corsair 1Gb memory stick (CMSS1GB-333SOD) for my Compaq Laptop - R3240US. It was purchased after ensuring compatibility on Corsair's site. It was working fine until recently when the laptop started to crash (Windows Kernel panics on freshly installed OS, Random and frequent Crashes in MS Office 2003 programs) and I had it sent to Compaq for repair under warranty. Compaq stated that the RAM stick (Corsair) has gone bad and since it was 3rd party memory they refused to do anything with it. I then inserted the original memory that came with the laptop and it started to work fine. (No crashes.) Should I try anything before filing the RMA request form? Thanks.
