bad XMS3200

I have a dual channel kit of 3200s with the single line LEDs...current partnumbe not handy, but I have been getting BSOD narrowed down to this one stick of ram, now that I have removed it, my problems are gone. It too failed the memtest only when this stick was in.

If I RMA, do I have to send both sticks in, since they were bought together? I can't really spare both, if one is working... it would mean me being out of computer for what 2? 3? 4 weeks?

TWINX1024-3200C2PRO

cpu running at 166x12.5 which is default settings, mem frequency is by SPD 200mhz timings are set to optimal 8 3 3 3T.

If I switch to a stick of Mushkin I have, I never have issues, but with this pair I get the BSoD anywhere from every 5 mins to every 3 hours. I don't currently remember which stick, but only one causes it, I can run with just the one "good" stick and no BSoD.

With this MB you have to run the memory in sync with your CPU at DDR333, or it will cause a bottel neck in the chipset and may generate errors that are not from the memory.

Please try these settings.

CPU Freq: 166 MHz

System Performance: User Define

Memory Frequency: 100%

Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts

Resulting Frequency: 166MHz

Memory Timings: Manual/User Define

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

my motherboard is an asus a7n8x-E deluxe

is this motherboard flawwed then? cause it has a 400mhz FSB and supports ddr400....the box is sitting right next to me... plus my, as it now says, XXXXXX brand ram runs just fine at 400mhz. Or even just doing the one stick of the XMS runs fine at 400, never a crash.

This is a chipset limitation.

If the FSB of your CPU is 400 For Intel and 100 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports only DDR 266.

If the FSB of your CPU is 533 For Intel and 133/166 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 266/333

If the FSB of your CPU is 800 MHz for Intel and 200 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 333/400
