A8N-SLI Premium:MemoryTest failed

Hello,

sorry my english isnt so good, but i´ll try to describe my problem.

1 day ago i´ve got my brandnew mobo (A8N-SLI Premium).

My CPU is a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+.

The Problem is, that i have 4 sticks of corsair mem. not sure what model (im on work at moment), but im sure that 2 of them are listed in the manual from asus.

ok, so the problem is that im not able to start my system. i got every time a voice message that says "system memory test failed". i tried all possible combination and i also tried an older pc333 ram from my wifes computer. no chance!

the board i got is revision 1.02, but i dont know what bios version is on it (never saw the bios or the post on screen).

ok, i know that without the 100& correct memory name you ae not very able too help me, but please answer me a few question:

is it posible that the biosversion on my board is too old to know/accept my memory and should a newer bios fix this problem?

is there a way to flash the bios withou having correct memory or should i send the board back to the dealer so that he can fix it?(remember board is 1 day old)

ok, i hope you can help me , because im sure the board will rock with corsair :p

Well, I`m having some similar problems here, and I think that I can suggest you something.

Just try to use only one stick, and put it on B1 slot. If it works, put another stick at B2 slot. Test A1 and A2 slots later.

Maybe this can help and you can see at least your BIOS screen....

My A8N-SLI Premium is giving me some trouble to use A1 and A2 slots, so I don`t have Dual Channel enabled here up to now. On monday I`ll try to use some different RAM here to test my system and see if my mobo is defective or if it`s some kind of incompatibility.

ok, im at home now and i looked what memory i have.

i have 2 sticks of cmx512-3200c2 (xms3202v3.1)(0437096-0)

and 2 sticks of vs512mb400.

both types are listed in the manual as compatible and they are all working on other boards.

is there a trick to try only 1 stick? normally i do so:

place 1 stick into b1, start pc , shut down pc, place other stick in b1

should i do a cmos-reset every time i try an other stick? imho i thinks this isnt needed(?).

if one of you can give me a hint it would be very nice

thx

I don't think that cmos-reset is necessary for this kind of test, maybe RAM GUY can affirm this.

Put one stick at B1, and if this works put another equal stick at B2. If you can get both sticks working at this configuration try to update your BIOS and if possible run some mentest.

Later, try to put the others sticks at the same configuration, B1 and B2. If they also passes those tests, I think that you can presume that all sticks are good and working.

After this you should try too put them in Dual Channel, for this you must use a stick in A1 and the other equal stick at B1, if they work, put the other set of sticks at A2 and B2 (equals sticks), don`t mix the sticks in 1 and 2 channels, doing it can make them not POST.

After all, if nothing else works, be welcome, you can be having the same problem as I :(:

well, i have done this on the 1st day!!!

thats why i asked about to clear cmos on every stick-change, because i diddnt do this on my test!

well, nothing worked :(

i have the option to send back the mobo within 2 weeks.....but i want this board because im sure its a good one.

so, i know that here is not the asus-support-board but maybe one of the users here knows if there where bios-versions out that doesnt support my ram.

EDIT:

I cant understand why it seems to be a problem to use corsair memory. also, my sticks are in the compatibily-list from asus, so that normally it shouldnt be a problem to use them.

Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.

im not able to see a post and im not able to enter bios.

so, i cant change voltage or tell you my biosversion :(

ok, so the problem is that im not able to start my system. i got every time a voice message that says "system memory test failed".

i have tested this already. and also all possible combinations...but no chance.

And: No, i have no bad part.

And: N1 that one Post from me is deleted here......

Maybe my English is so crap that you missunderstood me.

- Is there a way to change dim voltage on board jumper? ---> imho NO!

- Is my Ram working on other Boards?---> YES!

- Is there a Way to flash Bios when getting an Error Message from Post?---> NO!

1. Are you trying to mix these two sets of modules?

2. Have you tested the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org?

3. Will the system post with any of the modules when using them one at a time?
