Sertme
I have an Alienware Area-51 M7700 Laptop that had a pair of Corsiar Value Select DDR2 533MHz 512MB modules that have failed. I first discovered the problem when I was using the laptop and it froze in Windows XP (SP2). I tried to reboot and it froze before the POST. After removing 1 of the 2 modules, the machine was able to boot and function properly. I replaced the defective 512MB module with a new VS1GSDS533D2 module. Three days later the same thing happened again (XP locked up & laptop would not POST), at which time I removed the other 512MB module and replaced it with another VS1GSDS533D2 module. I have since been using the laptop without incident for about 2 months. Please let me know how I should go about getting an RMA number as Alienware has told me that I have to go through Corsair for warranty on the memory (the laptop is just over a year old).
