a.vecchiarelli
computer froze.rebooted & computer would not allow os to come up.could not even boot up in safe mode.finally tried tried to boot up with windows cd in repair mode.was informed that ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded.the error code is 7.looked it up on google and was told it was either a bios or a failed memory module.tried resetting bios to fail safe default setting without any luck, then tried resetting bios to optimal default setting without any luck.so i shut everything down and removed 1 stick of my memory and powered up my system and everthing worked fine.how should i go about getting that stick of memory replaced on warrenty ? thanks a.vecchiarelli
Wired
If all you've done is to take one stick out, you need to troubleshoot more. Let's assume this: Stick 1 is in slot A in your PC right now. Try: Just Stick 2 in Slot A. See what happens. Just Stick 1 in Slot B. See what happens. Just Stick 2 in Slot B. See what happens. Also, what's the exact part # of your memory? a.vecchiarelli
my computer froze up.when i rebooted it,it would never go into the os.it would shut down, come back up and shut down again.i couldnt even boot up in safe mode without it cycling into shut down and on again.finally i tried to boot up with the xp pro cd in repair mode.it said that my system had a hardware or software problem upon start up.it said ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded.the error code is 7.i used another computer to look this code up on google.it stated the cause of this behavior was either incorrect bios settings or faulty ram modules.so first i tried resetting my bios to its safe default settings and then to optimal default settings without any luck.then i shut everything down and removed 1stick of my memory and booted my sytem back up.it booted up perfectly and everything works great.now i'll have to replace that memory stick
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 27, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 27, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
