goldwing
 I have a KR7A-Raid with one kingston (KVR266x64C25) 512mb pc2100 2.5v cl2.5. I want to add another 512mb but pc3200 this time(so I can pass it along to other computers), what module do u recommend (hopefully no voltage or clock issues?) and with 2 slots filled with these, what limitations will I have for the 2 free slots? I appreciate ur assistance. Thanks very much  Ron
Wired
it's NEVER recommended to mix modules from different manufacturers
Mystery
Mixing ram modules is looked down upon by a lot of people but personally I haven't had that many problems. Be sure to test each ram individually prior. About your specific question, I do not think that will work simply because your motherboard, ABIT KR7A-Raid, only supports up to DDR266 (PC2100) tested. Though DDR Memory was designed to be backward compatible, you should take into consideration what will be stable in the primary machine the ram will reside in. What is important is that you check to make sure you don't combine ECC ram with Non-ECC ram.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2006 That’s not true with ever module. Many DDR400 modules made now will only support DDR333 or DDR400 in the SPD and if you put them in a system that only supports DDR266 it may not post. Or if you mix memory of different speeds you may get the same result. Again I would not suggest mixing memory with any system as a rule.
