Need RMA for CMX512-3200XLPT v1.2 (Dual kit)

Recommended Posts

I have a dual 512 (1GB total) kit that has never worked properly.

I originally installed the kit into a Shuttle SB61G2v3 and was initially worried that I had a bad barebones unit.

Soon afterwards, I ordered up an Abit IS7-E2 motherboard paired with some standard Crucial RAM.

The Crucial RAM ran fine in both systems. The Corsair RAM would not run properly in either system.

One of the Corsair modules would immediately fail a Memtest diagnostic. I set this known defective module aside and used the other RAM module for several months. Unfortunately, the computer this second module was installed into was never stable and prone to BSOD. It would not run Prime95 for more than a few minutes despite passing Memtest diagnostic. Changing out this module for a Crucial part allows Prime95 to run for days without any problems.

I run Crucial TwinX in most of my systems (here and at work) and have never had any problems until I purchased this TwinX kit. I am intimately familiar with system building; in particular the required timings and voltages required to run this type of Corsair memory. Different voltages and timings were tried in an attempt to get this memory to run in a stable manner; to no avail.

I have attached a picture of a failed Memtest run from when I first began troubleshooting this problem last Spring.

Here are most of the numbers from the modules in question:

CMX512-3200XLPT XMS3208v1.2 0510058-2 XMS3200 512MB 400Mhz 2. 2. 2. 5

Packaging: TWINX1024-3200XLPT Lot# 0510058-2

I would greatly appreciate whatever you can do to expedite my request for RMA replacement of this TwinX kit.

Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.8X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
