Mystery
I have a Great Quality RX-7334 which is really a rebranded ECS G733E notebook. I am upgrading the ram because this notebook desparately needs it. It came with 128mb of ram and that is shared video so even at the lowest video setting in the bios, it would still be only 112mb of usable ram. The installer for most new programs won't even go through due to lack of ram. The compatibility list on the Corsair main page does not list compatibility for Value Select Ram. Even though it states that it is compatible with most boards, I have had problems with Corsair Value Select ram and ECS Desktop motherboards. I was wondering if anyone has tried the VS512SDS400 ram module with any G733E or varient. It is the 512MB DDR400 Value Select ram stick. Also, does anyone know if Corsair has a will call window? I know other companies have will call windows where you can bring in your machine to see if their perticular part will work with that device. Corsair in Fremont is about five minute jog since I pass it as I jog on the weekends so if they have some kind of will call window that I can just test the compatibility that would help loads. Thanks for anyone who has tested this ram in an ECS Notebook and can tell me their experiance or if anyone can tell me if Corsair has a Will call window. Thank you. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 25, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 25, 2006 No I am sorry we are not a retail store, only manufacturer. Please look up your system on our memory configurator.
Mystery
No I am sorry we are not a retail store, only manufacturer. Please look up your system on our memory configurator. Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried the memory configurator tool that is listed on the main page. The tool does not show any tests for the value select modules I have tried. I don't know if that applies to all value select ram but the ones I have tried do not list any compatible notebooks. It says no notebooks were tested with that model of ram. My question about the will call window wasn't directed for retail stores. I asked about will call only because most places only carry Value Select ram for the Corsair brand, at least the ones I went to. I am looking to buy 512 DDR400 SoDimms. In the event that it is not compatible there is a restocking fee of around 15% usually. Manufacturers are the only ones who have will call windows, I didn't even know about it until a few people had problems and customer support for antec told me they have a will call window for customers to bring in parts if they are within Northern California since their USA branch is in Fremont as well. I was just hoping that maybe you guys have a will call window as well so I can test the ram before I buy it without having to pay 15% in case it is not compatible with ECS motherboard. ECS tends to be picky on ram. If anyone has tried a stick of 512MB DDR400 Value Select ram in their custom notebooks, please let me know your experiances. Thank you. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2006 The module we would suggest for any OEM system would be our System Select memory. I would suggest using a module that is listed on our memory configurator. If there are no modules listed for your system I would suggest using a module that has been tested and or suggested by the system maker.

If there are no modules listed for your system I would suggest using a module that has been tested and or suggested by the system maker. Thanks again for the reply. I have looked up the laptop case in the memory configurator but like I pmed you, I don't know if there is a mistake for that specific board since the configurator suggests a possible 1GB stick and the board only accepts up to 512mb. G733 accepts up to 1GB. G733E and G733G models only accept up to 512mb. I asked ECS which told me that the board uses up to 512mb DDR400MHz but they do not have any specific suggestions for ram modules as I don't think they tested that many. G733E Specifications Sheet This is one of the first widely availble cases to build custom laptops off of for a lot of PC Shops so if someone has tried upgrading the ram on this (which you almost have to since it starts with 128mb - 16mb SMA = 112MB which isn't even enough to update AIM to the newest version, or even really run Windows XP), please post up. Also, on a side not for anyone who has this case and upgraded the processor too, please let me know how that went. I don't want to go too far since I can't find a battery with more current to go with it, but its still good to know if anyone's tried it and what happened. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2006 The suggestions from our memory configurator are based on the chipset. And are guaranteed to work if they are suggested. More then likely 512 Meg modules were all that were available when the NB was developed so that all that was tested and I would not suggest using 1.0 Gig module per ECS suggestion. I would suggest you use the 512 Meg module that’s suggested in our configurator.
