JMiata
I made a boot disk with Windows Memory Diagnostic program and ran the test. The standard test showed Stride6 was failing tests. I tried identical RAM from ******** in same slots and passed fine. I have been using this RAM with no issues for the last 6 months and nothing has changed recently. I tried it in different slots and get the same result. System/Bios Information: Memory: - Module Name: Corsair VS512MB400 - Lot Number: 0452018-0 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ MB: DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-DR What are my next steps? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. JMiata
Is this an issue or not? I am not clear as to what this error indicates but I have placed other RAM into the same slots and they pass this test. I would like to know if I have an RMA will I need to pay for return shipping? TIA...
JMiata
Okay, I spent the day checking this and I just tried some more tests. I took these 2 sticks and put them in back 2 & 4 (as recommended by the DFI LanParty folks) and ran the test and it passed. Then I put them in banks 1 & 3 and it failed to boot. I took the other RAM (from another manufacturer) and did the same tests and they both ran flawlessly. The only difference seems to be that the Corsair RAM is 2.5-4-4-7 and the other manuf. RAM is 2.5-4-4-8. When they are in the system together all hell breaks loose. When run separately they both seem to work fine in banks 2 & 4. But when in banks 1 & 3 the Corsair RAM fails to boot the system. Something in the BIOS I need to change? I am really at my wit's end here. Help please! Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 30, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 30, 2006 First thing with this MB you should not mix memory. All of the modules would need to be exactly the same part#. In addition, with 4 modules you will ahve to set the memory frequency at DDR333 as well as set the memory voltage to 2.8 Volts. But I have no problem replacing you modules, but from what you have posted it sounds like some other issue.
