user70
My computer has an Abit NF7 motherboard with latest BIOS. It had a pair of 512 Mb modules and I replaced them with a pair kit of VS1GB400C3 modules. The CPU is an Athlon XP 2500, fsb is running at 333MHZ and memory is set by SPD and is 3-3-3-8 . A few days after I installed the new RAM the computer would reboot during heavy use or programs would just lock up. I experimented and found that just running on a specific module in any slot would cause the problem. The other module worked fine. I ran memtest after a crash with the bad module and there were 50,176 errors when it was at 70% completion. Nothing is overclocked and it is a tower case and has good cooling so I don't think it is a heat issue.

user70
Please set the memory frequecy at 100% or 1-1 with your CPU and set the memory voltage to 2.7 Volts and then test with http://www.memtest.org. I reinstalled the problem module, increased the RAM voltage to 2.7V and verified that the fsb-memory is 1/1. The computer ran fine for a 3 or 4 hours and then applications started to terminate (previously at the lower voltage it took longer) then the system rebooted itself. Memtest showed 213 errors just on the first pass. Thanks
