Hacker5
I built my system about 2 to 3 years ago and stuck a gig of XMS Twinx 1024 PC3700 in. I've been poking around hoping to find another gig of the same stuff and haven't had much luck. I guess my question is, if I have 2 512mb of PC3700 what can I put in the other two Ram slots that would be compatible and trouble free? I am over clocking from a 2.8ghz to 3.2ghz so if anybody out there can give me something to go on, I would appreciate it. I did find this same memory at 1 website but they are still wanting $280.00 for it. Yikes!! I think I paid $40.00 more 3 yrs ago, I would of thought the prices would of dropped by now but as I said, this particular memory has been very hard to find. Hacker5 = Golf hacker, not a computer hacker  Incase it matters, I'm using an Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB.

And anybody still selling them "new" right now are going to charge relatively astronomical prices for them. Second, you should consider replacing your current memory with a TWINX2048-4000 kit instead. You see, all DDR400 memory controllers will default your memory speed to DDR333/PC2700 when you have all four memory slots filled with double-sided sticks of memory. The TWINX kits are guaranteed to run at their advertised speeds and timings only with two sticks installed - four sticks will put an increased load on the memory controller, requiring lower clockspeeds and/or looser latency timings. So is this why my P4C800-E Deluxe only shows 3 out of the 4 modules as having a maximum bandwidth of PC3700, and 1 as PC4000?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 22, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 22, 2006 Its reading the SPD which you ahould be setting the timings manually any way and should not have any issue. Just set them manually and you should be fine.
