MarkHI
ABIT KN8 Ultra AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 DDR400 XMS3200 Dual Channel This a brand new system build. It worked fine last night then today it starts booting at random. Re-installed OS (XP Pro) and drivers to no avail. Took out one of the sticks and the system runs fine. As a test, I swapped the sticks and the system will not get past XP screen. The sticks were installed/arranged as per mobo instructions in slots 01 and 02. Is this right?... With the two sticks, the POST sees the memory as 1047488 DDR 333 CL2.5 , Dual Channel 128-bit. Shouldn't it read DDR 400? With the single stick installed POST reads it as DDR 400 but CL3. Any advice appreciated. At the moment the system seems to be running fine on 512K of RAM. If I returned it would I have to return both sticks? Thanks, Mark
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 23, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 23, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. MarkHI
OK... I memtested the good stick on AUTO setting and it showed no errors...will try the suspect one when I get home. Where/what are your numbers that I need to plug in at the bios setup? Also, if you could, tell me where to plug those numbers in because there's maybe 20 settings that are available in the DRAM settings part of the bios. Thanks. MarkHI
Memtested each one at 2.5-3-3-6 (per instructions for AMD) and one stick went through 5 passes without errors, the other stick showed errors at the 60% mark of the first pass. Failed in Dual Channel mode even when I swapped slots.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 3, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 3, 2006 Your modules show they were received on the 1st and new modules were shipped on the 2nd 3 day UPS. So you should get them with in the next few days.
MarkHI
OK first thing I did was memtest them and they both went through two passes in dual channel mode...yay! I've been using the computer for a couple hours and I just realized that set the timings in the bios at ddr400 2-3-3-6. The link in your sig leading to the timings and tests of these ram state a CAS of 2.5 for AMD platforms. But the PDF file of the sticks state CAS 2 for both platforms... Should I bump it down to 2.5 or leave it as is? Thanks, Mark
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 7, 2006 AMD64 systems should be able to run at Cas 2.0 with our problems, just set the memory voltage to 2.75 Volts.
