Help with Setting Up Proper Timings

Recommended Posts

I am trying to make sure I am setting the right items and need help. The timings for my RAM are:

DRAM Clock: 200 MHz

DRAM Voltage: 2.7X Volts

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T (2.5 on AMD platform)

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4 Bank

When I go in to change the settings I get the list below. What do I need to change?

DRAM Clock Set to Auto

CAS Latency Time Set to 2.5

Row Cycle Time Set to Auto

Row Refresh Cycle Time Set to Auto

RAS# to CAS# Delay Set to 3 clocks

RAS# to RAS# Delay Set to 4 clocks

Min. RAS# Active Time Set to 6 clocks

RAS# Precharge Time Set to 3 clocks

Write Recovery Time Set to Auto

Write to Read Delay Set to Auto

Read to Write Delay Set to Auto

DRAM Command Rate Set to Auto

Burst Length Set to 4 beats

Bank Interlacing Set to Disabled

32 bit DRAM Memory Hole Set to Auto

Bottom of 32-bit (31:24) IO Set to DO

MTRR Mapping Mode Set to Disable

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

you can look at this screenshot eg This is for my Corsair XL ram 2-2-2-5 1T ( still awaiting Corsair 3500LLPro to appear in Belgium :( )

DRAM Clock Set to Auto

CAS Latency Time Set to 2.5

Row Cycle Time Set to Auto -- 10-12 lower is better

Row Refresh Cycle Time Set to Auto -- 12-14 lower is better : previous +2

RAS# to CAS# Delay Set to 3 clocks

RAS# to RAS# Delay Set to 4 clocks -- 3 - 4 lower is better

Min. RAS# Active Time Set to 6 clocks -- 6 - 7 lower is better

RAS# Precharge Time Set to 3 clocks

Write Recovery Time Set to Auto -- 3

Write to Read Delay Set to Auto -- 2 - 3 lower is better

Read to Write Delay Set to Auto -- 2 -4

DRAM Command Rate Set to Auto -- 1T-2T lower is better

Burst Length Set to 4 beats

Bank Interlacing Set to Disabled

32 bit DRAM Memory Hole Set to Auto

Bottom of 32-bit (31:24) IO Set to DO

MTRR Mapping Mode Set to Disable

Also make sure the ram gets enough voltage so at least 2.7 volts, my AV8 tended to overvolt a bit so I had to leave it at 2.6 while it gave 2.7 volts , have a look at that first. Test ya ram with eg memtest in dos or via SuperPI in WindowsXP, do also one setting at a time, test it and change another one, just to avoid being lost in space. With eg A64 tweaker you can see all the setings ya bios made. so you can compare with the settings I proposed. Good luck. Prefer stability above speed mate and the system nor the ram will let ya down :)
