mesmerize
I posted this on the dfi forums before posting here. Hi, i'm new to these forums but not new to overclocking. My problem is that I can get my memory up to 230mhz which takes my cpu to 2.3ghz. When I try to use a memory divider to achieve a higher overclock my memory won't go even 1mhz over 200mhz but just reboots before the normal saving bios screen. Using lower memory dividers allows me to get to 2.6ghz which I am really happy about but obviously my memory is running slower than it should be Before posting this thread I read through all relavent stickys and used search 100's of times to find a solution but all I can find are comments about problems with Corsair memory so I am assuming this is where I am going wrong. Hope someone can help.
chocoruacal
Value Select RAM simply may not want to run faster than 200mhz. Firstly, run Memtest86 with the RAM at 200mhz; you may be trying to overclock modules that are already faulty. Secondly, simply use the dividers; not only will they let you achieve a higher overclock on the CPU (assuming you don't have a totally crappy CPU) but unlike the nForce 2 days, they have no significant impact on performance. There are plenty of discussions/reviews that support this. Google is your friend.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 19, 2006 Your PSU is marginal at best expecially if you want to over clock. But I would set the memory voltage to 2.8 Volts and test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure.
