luwahn
I just ordered 2 (1GB) XMS TWINX2048 3200 C2PT. Will this memory be compatible as well as interchangeable between my 2 boards: DFI LanParty nF3 Ultra-D and Abit AV8 (I didn't see my DFI model listed in Corsair's Memory Configurator)? After placing my order, I've learned that the XMS TWINX2048 3200 uses Infineon chips....(I was hoping for TCCD chips). (1) Wouldn't TCCD chips be more compatible/interchangeable with both of my boards? I've just learned that revisions 4.1 and 4.2 ARE Samsung chips. With all the different revisions of this memory, how does Corsair determine which revsion to send to their customers? How can the customers specify a certain chip when ordering XMS TWINX2048 3200 C2PT from Newegg? (2) Do you have any high performance TCCD chipped memory that would be compatible/interchangeable with both of my boards? Thanx, Luwahn
Wired
1. ICs cannot be tied to a specific version #. part # and lot # are needed for Ram Guy to confirm what IC they are. As for guaranteeing a specific IC, as far as I know, NO vendor will do that. 2. 3200XLs and 4400C25s both only use TCCD.
luwahn
Do the 3200XLs or 4400C25s w/ TCCD ICs come in 1GB TWINX2048 modules?
Wired
They don't make TCCDs big enough for 1 GB sticks.
luwahn
Thanx for the info. The TWINX 2048-3200C2 that I ordered should arrive by the weekend. I'll post back to let you know how they perform.......:): Luwahn
RJLeong65
Do the 3200XLs or 4400C25s w/ TCCD ICs come in 1GB TWINX2048 modules? As Wired said, the Samsung TCCD IC's come only in 256Mbit density. Therefore, a 1GB TCCD-based module would have to be a double-sided module containing 16 IC chips per side (32 IC chips total) - which the Athlon 64 memory controller and most Intel chipsets do not support (they are limited to 18 IC chips maximum per DIMM slot). luwahn
I've received and installed the 2 (1GB) Twinx2048 XMS PC3200c2 memory in my Abit AV8.......(drum roll please....) and it performed as advertised! :): . Now I realize how unjustly apprehensive I was previously and all because I was hearing these scary stories about the AV8 and memory selection in some of the forums. I really appreciate you techs and this forum for knowing what you're talking about and giving us knowledgeable advice.......it pays in the end because you'll only gain one satisfied customer after another.....and now, you can count me as one! Thanx guys, Lumock
