This is for my brothers computer.....I've consulted the manual and did some research and I just assume this is another memory controller problem.....but the manual says it supports 2 dimms of ddr 400 memory

Board Asus K8N newest bios

Amd 64 3400+ I believe clawhammer

memory VS512MB400 X2 for a gig of memory

os is 64 bit windows pro

I've tried to up the voltage to 2.7 and i saw the memory go to 168mhz or up just a few but it refuses to go to ddr400

Actually, the K8N is a Socket 754 motherboard - and Socket 754 processors do not support dual-channel memory operation (that is, all memory will run in single-channel). In addition, you installed the modules into DIMM2 and DIMM3, but left DIMM1 empty. With Asus Socket 754 motherboards, DIMM1 must be filled in order for two double-sided modules to run at DDR400 speed.
