MadHatter_oz
I recently bought the 2 TWINX2048-3200C2PT sets, and when I install all 4 memory sticks, I get an over current status on the motherboard. is there some way I can get all 4 gig to work (turn down voltage on the memory or something?) thanks. leeghoofd
Have you tried each set indivually, did you run memtest to see if they are all working properly. I don't own the Asus but what do you mean with an over current ? Is there a led or a beep call that tells that ? Have you tried to setting 2T manually or locking DDR voltage to 2.7-2.8 volts ? MadHatter_oz
yes, they all run perfectly fine individually and in sets (and in 3 modules), just not 4 alltogether. I havent run memtest on it because it wont let me get that far when all 4 are present (the mobo says "USB Device Over Current Status Detected System Will Shutdown in 15 Seconds" I have it set to 2t, and 2.75v. It seems to me (I may very well be an idiot) that this is ASUS'S problem, but after talking w/ 3 different tech support people over there they all tell me to contact corsair about the problem... I really want to use all 4 gig, and I'm getting discouraged :(
leeghoofd
Try a bios update , Try timings 2.5-3-3-7 set Command rate at 2T and DDR voltage at 2.85 volts 4 dimms require more voltage from the motherboard to be stable
MadHatter_oz
Thanks! I really appreciate it. I'll try that tonight when I get home and see if it gets things up and running.

MadHatter_oz
hehe thanks. I'm upgrading from amd's very first > 1ghz athlon from like 7 years ago w/ a gig of ram. I was putting off upgrading--as you can see--but that computer (along w/ every other electrical appliance in our house) died, so I had to take the plunge to feed my bf2 habit. so far the process of building this thing has been one headache after another. then 7 years from now I'll do it all over again. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2006 I would test the modules one set at a time but the error message you stated would suggest a MB or Bios issue when running four modules. So to be sure test them one set at a time. And lets make sure one is not failing. In addition, I would try another PSU if you can barrow one to test with. MadHatter_oz
turning the voltage up did the trick. actually the voltage was at 2.6 (I forgot I had to reset the bios and didnt update it again), but all is well now. now how do I get xp-x64 to recognize all the memory? right now it still only see's 2.48Gig memory. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 21, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 21, 2006 There is a setting in the bios to remap the memory over 4.0 Gig please check your manual for this setting or something that would remp the memory over 4.0 Gig.
