islandsnow
Now that i got your attention, I have been debugging this problem with my system this last week. I think i tried every bios setting, reflashed, tried loading xp maybe 20 times. All with failure. Since then i bought a new mobo, new hard drive, new power supply, everything pratically except the memory. The memory looked so good with the heat sinks on them that i never suspected them. Anyways, put together my new system two weeks ago, everything was fine, during a game last week, the computer rebooted and from then on would reboot randomly. I thought it was a hard disk failure since i couldn't get it to reformat. Today, I replaced the mobo, same problem, would not format the drive. So i replaced the hard drive. same problem, but now the new seagate hd came with a bootable diagnostics disk with tests for system, drive, controller, and does memory tests too. So I ran it and it failed on memory and not the hard drive or controller. So I popped one memory stick out and it failed, then put the other one back in, that one passed. So far my system has been working with the one stick of memory. I have one bad stick of memory of the corsair twinx cm2x512a-6400. Am i entitled to get an RMA after all this grief i went through and it turned out to be a defective memory stick. my system consists of Enermax maxflow server case Ultra Titanium 500w psu Asus P5WD2 Premium Seagate 300gb sata drive MSI Nvidia 7800GT video Floppy Pioneer DV-110 DVD Corsair mem Intel
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. .
