Nick_000000
I am thinking of building this do you guys think it will all work well together? AMD Athlon 64 4000+ Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 2 x BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3500LL Pro TwinX Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition 2 x Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740GD 10,000RPM (already have) 2 x Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 200GB (already have) Plextor PX-716AL Dual Layer Slot Loading Seasonic S12 600W Silent ATX2.0 Any improvement suggestions are appreciated Additionally does anybody know whether the 2 BFG GeForce 7800 cards will fit into this board or whether they are too long and whether the heatpipe on the motherboard blocks one from being fitted? And what do the latencies go down to on XMS3500LL at 3200 instead of 3500 or is 3500 ideal?:sigh!:

rgrea
Do you have the Bios setup for 2048-3500LLPRO anywhere else on this froum that I could follow the build notes or is the build notes close enough using the 3200c2? I ordered the A8N32 SLI. I'm waiting for parts to arrive and am getting ready. Thanks again bob

Morgenstern
Well since my last system was great (with the exception of the buggy Asus MoBo and Creative X-Fi XtrememMusic). I desided to step back into the land of intel (I have been useing AMD since 2000). I got: 1.EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard 2.Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor 3.CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (2 sets of 2) 4.EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card (2 sli togeather) 5.Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3320620A 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA 6.Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache (2 of these) 7.ASUS Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X 8.SAMSUNG Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 18X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 3 9.SAMSUNG Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Model SFD321B/LBL1 10.Cooler Master Real Power Pro 850W RS-850-EMBA (the one on nVidia's website) 11.CM Stacker 830-NVIDIA Edition - NV-830-KKN2-GP (the new case on nVidia's website) 12.Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card 13.UltraSharp 2007FP 20 inch Black Flat Panel Monitor Ok so this is my 4th computer I have build each getting more complex and I have been getting and asking for less help each time. Sadly One of the sets of ram was bad and I found out after calling the eVGA tech support line and they had me take out the second set so the comp would start. Then after I got the sticks out the system started but the floppy drive wouldn't work the light on it wouldn't even come on. Turned it off and checked all the connections they were all good and on the next start and all starts after it didn't work. Then once I got windows installed and I checked my computer's properties it said I had only 1 gig of ram, no floppy drive and the rest of it seemed just fine. Got my SLI going and pretty much everything else installed. Did I just get a couple bad batchs of Ram and a Bad Floppy drive ? Or should I be worried about this Motherboard? Morgenstern
Cannabalised a floppy out of my old comp and it works just fine in my new comp so it seems that I got an issue with the Samsung floppy. Makes me feel better about the motherboard but I still need to run that test for the memory. Guess I will give that a whirl now if I can make the disk. Even further, now the canabalised floppy is not working and I spent 3 hours on tech support with eVGA and now I am RMAing the board. Haha that makes 7 RMAs for this comp that got all its parts from New Egg any maybe more we will see if the HD they send me is bad as well when I get another MoBo

thedarkstranger
Opinions on the following would be grateful: CPU - Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHz M/B - Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP RAM - Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 - CL4-4-4-12 (also considering 2P800R22GK 2GB DDR2 800 Platinum XTC Revision 2 CL 4-4-4-15) HDD - Seagate 320GB, 7200.10, SATA2, 16MB Cache CPU cooler - Zalman CNPS9500 LED Graphics - XFX GeForce 8800 GTS XXX 640MB or XFX GeForce 8800 GTX XXX 768MB I already have a 250GB SATA2 Western Digital HDD to use for the OS drive, a Liteon Dual Layer DVD RW and a Seasonic M12 600w PSU. Queries 1. I intend to overclock the CPU to around 3GHz. What CPU/RAM settings in the BIOS are best to use to achieve this? I'd like to achieve a 1:1 ratio. 2. If I don't intend to use resolutions in games higher than 1600x1200 is it worth getting the 8800 GTX 768MB or should I save some money and get the 8800 GTS 640MB? I'm worried that the GTX would be too fast for the rest of the system. Would the overclocking help eliminate this?
