Stylin
Hello, I seem to have an odd problem that I can only come to believe is ram. My system hangs for upwards of 5 mins during booting. On the post logo screen, it sits there for 5 mins, then it goes to the starting windows screen, and sits for 5 mins. After that, it goes to the blue welcome screen, and sits there for 5 mins, then it gets into windows, and takes 5 mins to load the desktop. I've reformated my harddisk, reinstalled windows, flashed my bios, rechecked all my settings. Same old problem. I was asked to look at my cooling from other sources. Everythings working correctly there. The CPU is cooled with a Thermalright XP-120 h/s and fan. Theres a 120mm fan blowing cool air onto the harddrives, and a 120mm fan blowing hot air out of the case. Theres also a 80mm fan in the side of the case blowing onto the motherboard and components. The bios fan is fine, the video card fan is fine. All bios settings are default at this point. Ram settings are auto, and it's running at 2-2-2-5. Memtest 86 found 0 errors. I'm not sure if this would totally exclude ram from being the problem, but at this point I can't see anything else causing it. Let me know any questions you may have for me, and I'll answer them ASAP. Thanks for the help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2006 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, XMS2700C2 Cass 2-3-3-6 for example or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
