slisher
I have an Asus K8N-E motherboard and I would like to buy Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 2GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 Memory. I reading about single rank vs double rank and was wondering if the memory is single or double? My manual says they I must have one single rank to run at 400MHz. Will the twin pack run at 400MHz in a K8N-E motherboard?
GreyWolf
From what I've been reading the best solution to this might be to get (if you only want 1 GB memory total) AND you want the board to run the memory at 400mHz is just to buy a single 1 GB stick - For the life of me I can't understand why Asus did this - so far I understand it to be a limitation of the chipset? I too have an K8N-E, (not the deluxe version) and are trying to find memory that will run at 400 mHz, not 333 - !
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 7, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 7, 2006 If you install more than one double sided module this MB will by default slow the memory down to DDR333. I would suggest one CMX1024-3200C2 for best performance with this MB.
