hang_5
Hi again. I thougth all is solved and the PC is running fine, but working it for a while the PC several times shut down and reboots. I made no software change, no new hardware...except I put the new two Corsair memory sticks in. Any idea what causes this new crashes?
hang_5
Thanks Wired and I thought I had it running with the help of CMC_SAVAGE, but now after working the PC a while it starts crashing and rebooting. I will continue the thread at the original one, which is >help with Corsair TWINX1024 and ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe<. I would be more than happy if You take a look into that thread >help with Corsair TWINX1024 and ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe< and will not continue this one. hang_5
RamGuy, You want me to call our Tech Support at 1-800-205-7657 when I am front of the system, but I can not call a 800 number from outside the US and I am located in Costa Rica. Can You please provide me with another number or a Corsair Tech Support SKYPE account (which would be the cheapest to avoid long distance call costs
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2006 That number should be fine for Costa Rica, but you can try 888-222-4346.
hang_5
Before calling Corsair Tech support I thought to give it a last final try and changed the MOBO for exactly the same, but a new one, which I had in reserve. So I disassambled and put a new ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe in. With the two Corsair CMX512-3200XL (XMS3208v1.2) I could not get into the BIOS, because BIOS was on Auto and it stated a memory failure and aborted the Boot process. I put the two Corsair modules out and the 512 Infineon module in. The system bootet properly and runned stabil. Even the games were running again stabil. No crash, no blue screen. So I used the 512 Infineon to get into the BIOS and changed from Auto to Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz Memory Timings: Manual/User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T I saved this to the BIOS and put the 512 Infineon module out and the two Corsair modules in After that the PC booted up to W2K SP4, but as soon as it got to work or play the system again got unstabil. Games crashed down, Internet Explorer shut down, blue screen etc. A hole mess and all this because I wanted to to do myself something good and bougth last year December 2005 my first Corsair memory modules. With this December modules, two TWINX1024-3200XL Ram modules I had the same trouble as described here. Corsair changed those two TWINX1024-3200XL Ram modules for two CMX512-3200XL (XMS3208v1.2) and here I am again having the same trouble spending hours and hours to get things to run. Very frustrating! As follows I give You the actual CPUZ test with the new ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe in. First result is with the singel Infineon module (runs super stabil), than with the two Corsair modules at Slot 2 and 3 and finally with the two Corsair modules at Slot 1 and 3. hang_5
As I wrote the original modules two TWINX1024-3200XL Ram modules, which I bougth in December 2005 have been replaced for two CMX512-3200XL (XMS3208v1.2), and as You can see in this thread they don't run either. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2006 Please reset your Bios with just our modules installed in slots 2-3 and then go to Bios setup and load setup defaults and set these settings and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. CPU Freq: 166 MHz System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz Memory Timings: Manual/User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. hang_5
Okay Ram Guy I did what you suggested 1. I tested the infineon module in slot 2 and got no errors with Memtest 86+ V1.65 Chipset: nVidia nForce2 SPP/FSB : 166 Mhz Ram settings were: 166 MHz (DDR332) / CAS: 2.5-3-3-7 / Singel channel (64 bits) 2. I installed the two Corsair modules in slots 2-3 used the suggested BIOS settings and - got errors with Test 5 [block move, 64 moves], - got errors with Test 7 [Random number sequence] and - got errors with Test 8 [ Modulo 20, ones & zeros] Chipset: nVidia nForce2 SPP/FSB : 166 Mhz Ram settings were: 166 MHz (DDR332) / CAS: 2-2-2-5 / Singel channel (64 bits) Than I tested the modules one at a time 3.1. I installed one (I let it in and dissasambled the one at slot 3) Corsair modules in slots 2 used the suggested BIOS settings and - got errors with Test 5 [block move, 64 moves], - got errors with Test 7 [Random number sequence] and - got errors with Test 8 [ Modulo 20, ones & zeros] 3.2. I dissasambled the one module in slot 2 and put the other module into slot 3 used the suggested BIOS settings and got NO ERRORS. That’s what I found at the memtest site: “There have been numerous reports of errors with only tests 5 and 8 on Athlon systems. Often the memory works in a different system or the vendor insists that it is good. In these cases the memory is not necessarily bad but is not able to operate reliably at Athlon speeds. Sometimes more conservative memory timings on the motherboard will correct these errors. In other cases the only option is to replace the memory with better quality, higher speed memory. Don't buy cheap memory and expect it to work with an Athlon! On occasion test 5/8 errors will occur even with name brand memory and a quality motherboard. These errors are legitimate and should be corrected.” As far as I understand it I have a Athlon system, haven’t bought cheap low quality memory…instead I went for “so named” good and tested Twin Corsair modules and use a quality motherboard (which I also replaced for test reasons during the test sessions for exactly the same ASUS A7N8X2.0 Deluxe ACPI BIOS Rev 1008, which was build in before. Can You please RMA for Corsair modules which will run with my system and please I am tired of hours and hours of endless testings! You as the specialists should really know which modules will run and if You say they are tested, they should be tested. Rigth now with my simple understanding I have two “tested” modules and one of it is not working properly? And please to make a long story short: Can You RMA direct to my Costa Rica adress? Otherwise I "again" have to send the modules back to the states, from there to Corsair, You send back to the states and I have to arange the transportation to Costa Rica. In case You can… please PM me and I provide You with the adress. Thank You.

hang_5
RamGuy with all due respect I have asked you a question to shorten the process of a second RMA, which is only necessary because now for the second time the Corsair modules are defect! Would You please so kind and answer me my question : >>>"And please to make a long story short: Can You RMA direct to my Costa Rica adress? Otherwise I "again" have to send the modules back to the states, from there to Corsair, You send back to the states and I have to arange the transportation to Costa Rica. In case You can… please PM me and I provide You with the adress. Thank You."<<<<<??????????????? It's not that kind of service (after such a thread) which your customers may would like to expect if You give them a standard answer: "Yes let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them." Please keep it simple: Can You or can You not RMA direct to my Costa Rica adress? Thank You
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 10, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 10, 2006 And please to make a long story short: Can You RMA direct to my Costa Rica address? You will need to ask our customer service, I am sorry I do not deal with shipping and have no idea about what the policy of any given country is or should be. The other choice is to contact your reseller. In addition, all of our XMS modules are tested on a MB at the rated speed and what you have posted suggests some other problem. Especially, if you are getting the same problem testing them one module at a time. That is why I have asked you to call us by phone. I am sorry I cannot PM anyone! Please reply to the last email you got from customer service and let them know you are having a problem and they will get you in contact with us, or send an email to ramguy@corsairmemory.com with your Phone Number and what we need to dial for country code to call you and we will be happy to call you. hang_5
Especially, if you are getting the same problem testing them one module at a time. That is why I have asked you to call us by phone. Do we have a missunderstanding here? When I tested one at a time I have NOT gotten the same results! I first tested both together at a time one in slot2 and the other one in slot3 and got errors. Than..... I wrote: 3.1. This means clearly: One module in slot 2 got errors in a single test AND the other module in slot 3 got NO errors in a single test. Isn't that what You wanted me to test? (testing them one module at a time) Maybe my english is not perfect (I am German) but I thougth it would be understandable. Man this is hard work here! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 11, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 11, 2006 Well, maybe but I am still not clear on what you have posted. As it may suggest a bad slot on your MB. I would test the modules one at a time in the first slot to be sure.
hang_5
Well, maybe but I am still not clear on what you have posted. As it may suggest a bad slot on your MB. I would test the modules one at a time in the first slot to be sure. Well RamGuy, when You wanted me to use Memtest You wrote first: >>Please reset your Bios with just our modules installed in slots 2-3 and then go to Bios setup and load setup defaults and set these settings and test the modules one at a time with www.memtest.org.<< That's for sure not a clear definition on what to do and has nothing to do with what You are asking now.....see the Quote. Nevertheless here is what I did today: 1. I put module "A" into slot 1 run Memtest got no errors 2. I put module "A" into slot 2 run Memtest got no errors 3. I put module "A" into slot 3 run Memtest got no errors THAN I put module "A" out of the test and started to test module "B" 4. I put module "B" into slot 1 run Memtest got errors 5. I put module "B" into slot 2 run Memtest got errors 6. I put module "B" into slot 3 run Memtest got errors With module "B"...... - got errors with Test 5 [block move, 64 moves], - got errors with Test 7 [Random number sequence] and - got errors with Test 8 [ Modulo 20, ones & zeros] That says to me that all the slots are fine, module "A" is fine and module "B" is bad. So what's next. I am hanging down here in Costa Rica and simply tried to by some good tested pairs of Corsair memory and now I am facing the second RMA. Rigth? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 12, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 12, 2006 When I contact your customer service how can I make sure that they than send me the correct modules which will run with my system? A: The modules you send in will be replaced with the same part# you send in, if you still have a problem with the new modules then there is some other problem other than the memory. With reference to this thread by including the link into the RMA? A: I am sorry I don’t understand your question, just submit the RMA request and use the post ID# at the top of one of your posts is all you need to do. Customer Service will not care or even look at the forum.
