consulting
REM: Normally there are no probs with CORSAIR! New to me is this (see at first the specs below!): I had 2 x SIEMENS SDU03264B5B21IN-50 (256MB-DDR-PC3200) installed (on an MSI OEM motherboard in a TEVION PC; another MEDION product). The machine was always running very fine, mostly used for video editing. After removing the SIEMENS chips and installing the VS1GBKIT400 the system became slow when hopping from one application to another. Every single application worked fine. But now --when closing an application and launching another one-- the PC seemes to take an annoying break. I removed the CORSAIR chips and reinstalled the SIEMENS chips. All fine. Back to CORSAIR: The same appearance. I booted to the BIOS. There was "something" (slap me...) set to AUTO that I changed to "133". I "think" that the machine is faster now, really faster. The breaks are still there but not so obvious. I can live with them, but I don't like them. Is there something that could or should be improved? ________________________________________________ General Info: Operating System Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1 (build 2600) Processor 3,06 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 8 kb primary memory cache 512 kb secondary memory cache System Model MEDIONPC MS-6785 Main Circuit Board Board: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD MS-6785 Bus Clock: 133 megahertz BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 04/19/2004 Memory Modules 1024 Megabytes Installed Memory Slot 'A0' has 512 MB Slot 'A1' has 512 MB Name ValueSelect DIMM DDR 1024.0 MB Description RAM Exp. 1024MB DDR400 184Pin CL2,5 (2x512MB) Manufacturer Corsair Group DIMM DDR400/PC3200 Manufacturer # VS1GBKIT400 LOT # 0540167-
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 12, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 12, 2006 With the CPU you have the MB you will need to confidure the settings manually. You will need to set the memory Frequency so its at DDR333 and I would load setup defaults and then set these settings and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. System Performance: User Define/mamual/Auto Memory Frequency: 4-5/125%/DDR333 Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz Memory Timings: Manual/User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T
