krill
Hi there, I have the following system and I’m experiencing RAM detection problem : Lian Li PC767 Seasonic S12 S600 HT Sapphire Pure Innovation AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 2 x Corsair TwinX 1024Mo 3200XLPT Sapphire X1800XL 2 x Hitachi 7TK250 SATA 2 250Go Floppy Nec DVD Nec DVD Writer NEC 4550 If I "Load Optimized Default" in the bios my boot screen show : ------------------------------------------- BIOS-I-4M (2K050926B) Main Processor : AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ Memory testing : 2096128K OK CPU0 Memory information : DDR 333 Dual Channel, 128 bit ------------------------------------------- The question IS why my memory is set to DDR333 instead of DDR400, I have selected "Load Optimized Default" in the bios. The BIOS is the latest one. All my memory slots are populated : The first 2 slots with the TwinX 1024Mo 3200XLPT and the 2 others with the second TwinX 1024Mo 3200XLPT. Could you help me please. PS : Before purchasing memory modules I have been on Corsair website in order to see the compatibility.
Wired
Your memory controller is lowering the memory speed on purpose. Most Athlon64 controllers will lower the memory speed to 333 when using more than 2 sticks. It can't handle 4 sticks @ 400.
krill
Yes you're right. I have to set up manualy my memory to 200Mhz and I also set the CAS from 2,5 to 2 and 2T at 1T. And now I have : ------------------------------------------- BIOS-I-4M (2K050926B) Main Processor : AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ Memory testing : 2096128K OK CPU0 Memory information : DDR 400 Dual Channel, 128 bit ------------------------------------------- WHY ? Because I have a San Diego Core. BUT what I want to know, as I have to set up MANUALLY my RAM because of the restriction of the ADM Athlon 64 controler with 4 modules, IS how to set up manally my RAM. What to select on the bios as I don't want to overclock my system ? Could you send to me an internet link with the details defaults settings of that RAM.
