Cmx512re-3200llpt

I cannot find a list of compatible motherboards on your website for the CMX512RE-3200LLPT memory. I have an MSI K8N Neo4-F motherboard and just bought this memory and I get a series of beeps when I start the computer. I have the CMX512-3200LL and that works fine in my motherboard. I requested an RMA because the CMX512-3200LL is the only one I could find a list of compatible motherboards on your website, and that says my motherboard is compatible. When I requested an RMA Corsair got back to me via email and stated that the memory "May" not be compatible and I should try to return to the manufacturer. Can I please get a straight answer if this specific memory is compatible with my motherboard and I need a list of ALL the compatible motherboards for this specific brand of memory.

I called Corsair on the phone well over 5 times, can never get a live operator. I left 5 messages with my system info and my telephone number and still have yet to receive a call back yet. I finally spoke to the main operator who informed me that they are all in a meeting. What kind of business has all their tech support in one giant meeting? Why isnt anyone helping the customers who spend hundreds of dollars for their product?

With as much money as your company makes you should have a staff of tech support the size of gateway or dell. Please answer my question because this is bordering on ridiculous now.

SkywayTA,

What you have right there - the troublesome module - is that you've simply bought the wrong module. The CMX512RE-3200LL module is registered (buffered) ECC memory, which will not work at all with any Socket 939 system (the memory controller on such processors supports ECC, but not registered, memory) due to the fact that the register chip must be enabled or else the entire DIMM won't work, and that Socket 939 processors cannot enable the register chip.

Unfortunately, your other CMX512-3200LL is unbuffered non-ECC memory, and the non-RE version of the 3200LL was discontinued and is no longer available. You're better off replacing all of your memory with a TWINX1024 kit, such as the TWINX1024-3200XL kit, if you want 1GB of memory.

Compatible Corsair Modules for the MSI K8N Neo4-F

You've got REGISTERED ECC memory (the RE after CMX512 denotes this), which isn't compatible with Socket 939 systems, although for whatever reason some people have been able to get one stick of Registered ECC memory to run on them occasionally.

As for your statement saying their tech support dept should be the size of a large OEM, you're WAY off. Should they have enough to answer the phones / reply to voice mails, sure, no argument there. May want to post in the Suggestions and Requests sub-forum.

As for a general compatiblity with RE chips, you'd be looking at AMD socket 940 systems IIRC, Intel Xeon systems, and probably some other Intel systems (not up to date on Intel stuff).

If you did not get a call back then you will get one in the morning, but as far as I know all of the call backs have been done. And RJLeong65 is correct your MB will not support registered ECC modules. I would see if your reseller will let you send them back and exchange them for Twinx1024-3200XL set of modules. If they will not or cannot help you then please call our customer service and see if they can help you get the right parts. But this is not a warranty issue sorry!
