justchillin
Hello, I have a Dell 5150. I purchased Corsair VS2GBKIT533D2 2GB Kit DDR2-533 PC2-4200. When I play Sims 2 I've been getting blue screen. I ran a Sandra test and it freezes on the memory test part. I replaced the two sticks with another pair of same model Corsair memory and the computer runs fine now. The Sandra test ran without any problems and the Sims 2 game works. I need to replace these two sticks.
Jabberwok
It may be just be a small issue. Maybe your Corsair dimm sets are a different revision? How to read memory label If you would take the time to test your first set of dimms with memtest86 you could save time. Just test both of them at the same time, and then one at a time. even if it appears stable just let memtest run 3 or 4 passes to make sure... justchillin
I can't imagine them being from different sets. The two 1 GB dimms were purchased as a 2 Gb Kit consisting of 2 1 GB modules. The replacement dimms I used were also purchased as a 2 Gb set consisting of 2 1GB modules. I had the replacement dimms already working in another 5150. So it was a quick switch which promptly proved that there were issues with the first two dimms. I didn't think memtest is necessary since the pc started to work fine after switching out the memory. Jabberwok
I replaced the two sticks with another pair of same model Corsair memory So, you now have 4 sticks right? Or have you sent the old ones for replacement? What I meant in my previous post was that maybe your 2 kits were of different revision... I didn't think memtest is necessary since the pc started to work fine after switching out the memory. So, You never replaced your old ones? You bought some new ones & still have the old ones? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 12, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 12, 2006 Please test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.
