Flying-Squirrel
I just got a second gig of ram and it isn't working  Everything used to work fine with 1 gig of ram (2x512) but now I am trying to put in a second gig of the exact same ram so I will have 2 gigs of ram (4x512) the Corsair ValueSelect ram but all it does is beep at me. I am poor so the value ram was all I could really get  I put my BIOS to default settings then also set a memory divider of 1:2 and still it doesn't work. I took the new ram back out and the computer started again so I turned it off and switched the new ram with the old ram and once again it started perfectly. So it would appear that I don't have dead sticks of ram because they work fine if I just have 2 in but when I try to put either 3 or 4 sticks in it just beeps at me. Please someone give me some tips? Thanx a bunch. Oh and I also had flashed my BIOS to the latest version a few days ago so I don't think that should be the issue.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 4, 2006 Please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to make sure one is not failing and make sure they are both being detected at the same timings. Cas 2.5-4-4-8. If they all test fine I would make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the memory voltage to 2.8 Volts and see if the system will pass http://www.memtest.org.
