jwhytsell
Just bought MB, Ram and AMD64 3200 brand new. Have built many computers, and do read manuals. Won't run in dual mode. 1 stick runs fine. Both sticks run fine, but only in slots 1 and 3. Slots 1 and 2 (dual mode) wont load Windows XP Pro. Freash install of XP failed. Went to single stick, installed fine. Completed install (everything including SP2 and so-on), then tried adding second stick in slot 2 for dual mode, wont load windows. Have swapped both sicks around in all configurations, same results. Currently running slots 1 and 3 (single mode, 1 gig total).
jwhytsell
Sorry, forgot some things. All is DDR400 (as per MB specs). Have read that AMD64s don't actually support DDR400. Have upgraded to latest BIOS, same results. Help me Obi-wan!
jwhytsell
Have since dropped RAM speed to 166 Mhz and am able to run in dual channel mode (but did have to boot from XP cd and "FIXMBR"). Currently 2.5 3 3 8.
Wired
LMAO, yes AMD64s do support DDR400, although most only up to 2 sticks. Either way you're fine. Set your BIOS like so: CAS Latency (tCL): 2 RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3 Row Precharge (tRP): 3 Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6 Memory Voltage: 2.75 Volts All other settings to defaults.
