ksfitz83686
So... I'm having a good X-mas as I was finally able to upgrade to the 64-bit world:biggrin: DFI LP UT nF4 SLI-D/A64 4000+ San Diego/XMS TWINX1024-3200XL PRO What RAM I bought was totally contingent on what RAM BestBuy.com had in stock (credit purchase:[pouts: ) Anyway I got XMS 3200XL Pro in the 1GB TwinX pack as it was the best thing they had. My question is... Is this RAM capable of reaching DDR-600 at any voltage/settings combo on this motherboard. I know the board can throw a lot of volts at the memory and I will have the memory actively cooled by fan (32cfm), I'm even considering one of the new RAM water-cooling blocks I've seen as I already have a water-cooled setup. Anyone with experience with this mobo/ram combo please post your results, overclocks and settings. Thanks for any and all help I receive:!:
Wired
50% overclock is rare, possible, but rare.
ksfitz83686
So I dumped the "XMS" 3200XL PRO in favor of superior OCZ Platinum Elite Edition PC4800 and it was cheaper to boot!:D:
Yellowbeard
Cool, it makes more sense to buy PC4800 if you want 300mhz memory speed as opposed to buying PC3200 and hoping for a rare OC. Now all you need to do is get your other gear to run that fast. Mike. EDIT: Keep in mind that with either brand of memory, Corsair or the one I can't type, if you remove the heat spreaders to add water cooling, your warranty will be voided. ksfitz83686
Oh I totally agree with you specmike! I'm not bashing the Corsair at all (maybe a little;): ) everyone knows this is great ROCK SOLID PC-3200 with the tightest timings you can get. I do think Corsair has begun to charge a little too much for their reputation though. I was hoping to make this upgrade a total credit purchase just to free up Christmas money, but BESTBUY and UPS screwed up my order so bad that I had to cancel it, bite the bullet and spend 'real' money at Newegg. The positive: I got exactly what I wanted and saved a couple hundred bucks in the process!
Yellowbeard
It's all good, most people here don't get into or get offended by comments from users of other brands. Some brands/users get into bashing other brands but we all know how unnecessary that is. Merry Christmas. Mike.

Now that I will be using DDR600 I have completely ruled out water cooling the RAM!
thenemesis
I was able to get ddr600 out of mine with stock volts 2. You probably should have given it a try b4 getting rid of em:D:
ksfitz83686
It was a package deal, I got them from BestBuy.com, but they screwed up my order and shipping so bad I took it all back when it finally arrived!! In the meantime I ordered the stuff from Newegg.com and got the DDR600's for a hundred bucks less and knew I wouldn't have to hope too get the modules to 600 their guaranteed for life to do 600, so....
