amaru
Hello! I have 2x512mb corsair valueselect ram modules and since i got them a couple of bluescreens. I tested them together in following various positions (and also switched the slots): Let's call the working ram module "A" and the defect (?) one "B" A + B = bluescreens, doesn't matter which slot of the motherboard A = no bluescreens B = bluescreens, doesn't matter which slot of the motherboard Well, I hope for help here, I didn't found it somewhere else (friends, boards, ..) Thanks for (hopefully) a lot of replys!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2005 Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
amaru
Well, i don't really know which is the correct one, I'll post all I see: on a sticker: VS512MB400 LOT: 0313051 on the module: VS32MB5-5 (many spaces) 2B0350 Which is the correct one? Is one of this the correct one? I'm trying my best, as a hardware-newbie.. MB = motherboard? If yes: I have an ASRock P4VT8+ cpu speed: 3000mhz (pentium IV) fsb: 200 I'll add the bios settings in 10 minutes and edit my post.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2005 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings to "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. amaru
Just to add the BIOS-Settings (all that I think are possible important) before changing: Processor Type: Pentium ® 4 CPU Processor Speed: 3000 MHz Cache Size: 512 KB Total Memory: 512MB - DDR1: 512MB/200MHz (DDR 400) - DDR2+3: none CPU Host Frequency: Auto -Actual Frequency: 200MHz DRAM Frequency: 200MHz (DDR 400) Flexibilty Option: Disabled DRAM CAS# Latency: Auto Hyper Threading Technology: Auto DRAM Voltage: Normal (menu item "POWER") Suspend to RAM: Disabled What should I change? DRAM Voltage? Sorry for not knowing anything. When I tested it (tomorrow), should I go to "on-line RMA" or better to "tsxpress"? What's the easiest (for anyone with no clue) and fastest way? I thank you a lot for your fast and plain answers!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2005 Please set the DRAM Voltage to high as that will most likely solve the issue. But you need to make sure you have the latest bios as well and then load setup defaults before you set the voltage.
amaru
I still got errors after updating BIOS and setting the voltage to "high". :sigh!: I'll fill out the form now..
